What Happened in the Malachite Wastes is a slice-of-life, modern-fantasy, actual-play style podcast that asks the question: what if the NPCs got to tell their own stories? Each episode follows a different denizen of the Malachite Archipelago, and every story allows viewers to explore the life of an ordinary person in an extraordinary world and share the unique trials, tribulations, and joys of the human (or not-so-human) experience.

LEONA (50s-60s) is a Leonin (humanoid lionness) and headmistress of a magical academy who wears the glamour of a professional, older Black woman. She is a wise but deeply mournful character who has come to believe that "good" and "bad" are less clear than she had once believed, all at the cost of losing someone very important to her. She is described as a tall woman with long twists that give her hair a mane-like appearance. Because she is a lioness at heart (quite literally), her design is based loosely on sub-Saharan Africa, but as this is a fantasy world, we have a lot of space to play with how you choose to portray her! Ideal candidates either have or could perform a light Nigerian (or similar) accent.

Unfortunately, the show is a passion project, and roles are currently unpaid. However, this character has the potential to be the protagonist of a future episode, allowing the guest to develop her story personally and see art and content created of said character.
